Bar Harbor, ME
Bar Harbor Campground
Site K-14
Day 10 had a very simple objective. We had plans to go to a couple of places in Rochester, NY on the way home, so today's plan was to get as close as we could. Between Waze (best mapping/traffic app ever), Apple maps, the Garmin GPS, and Google maps, our drive was alleged to be between 10 and 11 hours.
Smooth sailing for about 2 hrs, then I-95. Terrible.
Imagine that, add some authentic Ginger rage, sprinkle in construction and Sunday east coast traffic volume, and that was our day. I will not elaborate as I have attempted to purge this experience.
When we reached the 10 hour mark and were only here,
it felt like Apple maps was taunting us with the 9hr 43min estimate. As for the 'Tolls Required', we set a Big Truck record with a single ticket charge of $42.85 on I90 across New York state. At least we had this to bring us home to our friendly neighborhood KOA.
13 hours later, we arrived here. The longest campground name ever, the Canandaigua/Rochester KOA Holiday Campground.
Apparently the KOA's sense of humor played a little better back in 2002 than it does today. We were so beat that we drove into the pull through site, plugged in the power cord and called it a night. Day 10 complete.
Tomorrow, all play all the time. Seneca Park Zoo followed by the Strong National Museum of Play.
